Newcastle’s 8-week public speaking course to help you speak with confidence

Port Hunter Toastmasters has completed our February/March 2026 Speechcraft course and is now taking expressions of interest for our next course in late 2026/early 2027. Whether you are looking to overcome a fear of public speaking, sharpen your presentation skills, or build confidence in interviews and meetings, Speechcraft offers a practical and supportive pathway to real improvement.

About the Course

Speechcraft is a hands-on, small-group program designed to help you develop your speaking skills in a safe, encouraging environment. Over eight weeks, you’ll take part in a series of structured activities designed to build your confidence and capability step by step.

Course Details

  • Small class size (maximum 12 participants)
  • When: Wednesday nights over eight weeks
  • Dates: The next course will run in late 2026 or early 2027
  • Time: 6.30pm to 9pm
  • Location: Alder Park Sports Club 132 Bridges Road New Lambton NSW 2305
  • No prior experience required
  • Age: 16 years or over (noting Alder Park is a licensed venue with under age requirements)

Course Learning Outcomes

Each week focuses on developing key speaking and presentation skills:

  • Thinking and speaking on your feet
  • Organising your speech content
  • Managing nerves and anxiety
  • Using body language and vocal variety effectively
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback

By the end of the course, you will complete multiple speeches, practise impromptu speaking and receive supportive evaluations to accelerate your learning.
